The house with the blue door.
Before I knew the names of faraway places, I knew every turn in our garden path.
In this imagined family story, Margaret remembers a small house at the end of a quiet lane. The door needed a fresh coat of blue paint every few summers. Inside, the kitchen was always the first place you went: to share news, to ask a question, or simply to sit beside someone who knew you.

02 · Ordinary days
A whole life, in the small things.
The moments that stayed were rarely the ones anyone thought to record. A flour-dusted apron. A chair pulled up to the table. The sound of someone coming home before you saw them through the window.
“There was always room for one more at our table.”
A family website can bring approved words, chosen photographs and a familiar voice together, so those ordinary moments have a place to live.

It whistled long before anyone was properly awake. Years later, Margaret found herself listening for the same sound in a very different kitchen. A small thing could carry a whole room back to her.
A letter kept in a drawer
The envelope was soft at the edges. She could almost remember the words without opening it, but she still read it slowly, as though the handwriting itself was part of the message.
